This is video documentation of a live performance mimicking the
misappropriation of singin'
in the rain video.
A glamorous video version of me as a singing pop star is projected
on a large rear projection screen. Behind the screen, the
live character, played by me, stands stoically performing the vocals
for the fraudulent screen diva. This live character is raw
and vulnerable, the epitome of lack, wrapped head to toe in bandages
and corrective braces of all sorts. The projection screen
provides the live character with a threshold to an ideal image
of herself...an ideal she will desperately strive for and never attain.
